POST OP INSTRUCTIONS AFTER CROWN/ BRIDGE PROCEDURE: LAKE LANIER SMILES

Post Op Instructions after crown/bridge appointment. Please follow these instructions from Lake Lanier Smiles. Thank you for choosing Lake Lanier Smiles for your Crown and bridge procedure. Crowns add strength, stability and function to your teeth.  Usually Crown and Bridge appointments take 2 appointments. On the first appointment, the teeth are prepared and a temporary crown would be cemented with temporary cement. On the second appointment permanent crown will be cemented with permanent cement after temporary crown is removed.  Generally we can get the permanent crown back from the lab in 2 weeks. 

Temporary crowns play an important role in reducing the sensitivity of the prepared teeth, protect the teeth from any damage and also prevent teeth from shifting until the permanent crown comes from the lab. We should take care that the temporary crown is in place until you come back for your next appointment. To prevent temporary crowns from breaking and dislodging please stay away from hard and sticky foods like gum, caramel, toffee, nuts, candy, etc. 

Rarely Temporary crowns come off then please call us and until you come to the office use Vaseline or toothpaste inside the temp crown. Remember to get the temporary crown so that we can re-cement it. Some cold, hot and pressure sensitivity is common after crown procedure and when temporary dislodges.

Brush normally but floss very carefully, remove the floss from the side to prevent removal of the temporary crown. Please call us if your bite feels uneven, if you have persistent pain and if you have any questions or concerns.
